New scheduling solution puts flexible, profile-aware home automation directly into the hands of homeowners
Janus Technology has announced the launch of its new Calendar Scheduler for Crestron Home, giving homeowners an intuitive way to manage sophisticated home automation schedules without requiring routine intervention from their integrator.
Building on Janus Technology’s popular Action Tiles, Calendar Scheduler extends simple on/off control into flexible, calendar-based automation covering systems throughout the home.
Action Tiles provide a clean Crestron Home interface for virtually any on/off automation. Integrators can configure multiple operating states including standard on/off control, timed boosts and schedule overrides, while the underlying actions can range from controlling a single relay to triggering a complex sequence of Crestron Home actions.
This makes Action Tiles particularly suited to applications including heating, hot water, towel rails, ventilation, irrigation, exterior lighting, circulation pumps and pool equipment.
Calendar Scheduler takes this concept significantly further.
Powerful calendar-based automation
From a single interface, homeowners can create and manage schedules for both Janus Action Tiles and Crestron Home Quick Actions made available by the integrator. Quick Actions are automatically discovered from the Crestron Home system, allowing existing automation sequences to be incorporated into schedules without additional programming.
Calendar Scheduler provides full calendar-based scheduling with repeating schedules, date exceptions and astronomical timing. Events can be scheduled relative to sunrise, sunset, dawn or dusk, with configurable offsets before or after each solar event.
The result is powerful automation that remains straightforward for the homeowner to understand and manage.
Scheduling that understands the home
One of Calendar Scheduler’s key capabilities is Profiles, allowing different sets of schedules to be activated according to how the property is being used.
Profiles might represent Home, Away, Guests or Holiday, or any other operating mode appropriate to an individual project. Switching the active Profile changes which schedules are active across the property, without requiring individual schedules to be edited or disabled.
For example, a Holiday Profile could reduce heating, alter exterior lighting and disable non-essential equipment while retaining garden irrigation. When the homeowner returns, switching back to Home allows the normal set of schedules to resume.
This enables integrators to create automation that responds not only to time and date, but also to how the home is currently being used.
Crucially, once the system has been configured, homeowners can manage their own day-to-day scheduling requirements. Schedules, repeat patterns, exceptions and Profiles can all be managed through an accessible calendar interface rather than requiring an integrator for routine changes.
For integrators, this can mean fewer minor scheduling-related service requests while delivering a more flexible and capable Crestron Home experience for their customers.
