Richard Caton
Richard is Managing Director and Co-Founder and is responsible for the development of the business as well as sales and marketing and managing clients through the initial stages of working with Janus Technology.
As Managing Director of Janus Technology I am responsible for the running of the company from business development to sales and marketing, and managing clients through the initial RFQ, quote and proposal stages. I also spend time visiting trade shows to liaise with existing clients and to meet new ones. Being the face of the company, you will see me exhibiting at UK trade events such as EI Live and CEDIA Tech Summits.
As previously having been an installer I am able to see things from a customer’s perspective, this gives me great experience for consulting for Smart Home BMS integrations from the user experience right through to the plant room design, installation and commissioning. You can’t stop me from getting a bit hands on with some projects and I still do help with the development of some Control4 drivers.
We’re currently putting a lot of effort into our BMS solutions, by building a portfolio of integrations across several control platforms to help end users and integrators visualise and manage energy usage. Last year we were lucky enough to have been awarded with the CEDIA Best New Software of 2023 for our Control4 BMS Monitor driver suite.
Outside of work I like to keep fit at our home gym, cross country running and skiing. I love traveling and one of my favourite places to be is in the mountains – whether it’s skiing in the Alps of trekking in the Himalayas. My family would describe me as hard working, committed and someone who doesn’t give up, so my dream of being able to play the guitar or piano to join in a jamming session may be able to happen. Maybe when I get the time to pick up a guitar that is.
