Embedded Software Engineer

The ideal candidate

Will be a confident and experienced embedded programmer, able to take a new idea and design and write software to achieve the required functionality, but equally able to adapt, modify and improve existing code.  Will enjoy working within a team environment but also be self-motivated when working alone. Should take pleasure from producing high quality ‘right-first-time’ solutions.

Essential requirements

  • Educated to AVCE/HND/HNC or higher in a computing or related subject
  • Have at least four years experience of embedded programming, ideally on ARM7 and/or Cortex-M processors using C/C++.
  • Have a good knowledge of OS coding techniques.
  • Understand embedded networking in terms of WiFi integration and communication protocols such as SPI, I2C, USB and USART.
  • Understand and be able to implement unit test strategies.
  • Experience with bug tracking systems and version control using SVN and Git.

Desirable requirements

  • Experience in a variety of programming languages.
  • Some knowledge of electronic hardware design.
  • Good written communication and documentation skills.
  • Be capable of professional liaison with OEM customers and co-developers.
